The Glass House is hiring retail and customer service specialists to work in our Design Store and Visitor Center during the 2014 tour season (April through November). Positions are seasonal and up to 30 hours a week, including some weekends and evenings. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Design Store and Visitor Center, greeting and orienting tour guests, processing tickets and maintaining the visual appeal of the Design Store and Visitor Center. Candidates must have an interest in art and architecture and be comfortable explaining and selling objects of high design. Strong communication and computer skills, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.

Glass House Guides + Volunteers
Glass House Guides are public ambassadors for the National Trust and the Philip Johnson Glass House, conveying our mission and engaging visitors in positive and engaging tour experiences. All visitors to the Philip Johnson Glass House participate in intimate guided tours of the 47-acre National Trust site. Glass House Guides are prepared to share key ideas and information as they lead tours designed to foster active dialogue about architecture, art, landscape, preservation and the legacy of Philip Johnson and David Whitney.
Guides are selected based on their enthusiasm and ability to communicate. All guides must participate in a rigorous training program and regular meetings throughout the season. Guide training includes sessions with experts on architecture, art history, Modernism, landscape, 20th century social history, preservation, and interpretation techniques.
