David
Through a reflective look at Godard’s Contempt, American Ballet Theater Principal Dancer David Hallberg dances in isolation in David, a film by Pam Tanowitz and Jeremy Jacob. Classical, modern, and quotidian vocabularies of dance are deconstructed and juxtaposed to make evident the tension between the external pose and the internal imaginary. David was crafted outdoors on Tanowitz’s patio at her New York City apartment and filmed at the Pavilion in the Pond on the grounds of the Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut. David received its World Premiere as part of the ABT Today virtual gala on November 23, 2020.
